Prescribed Burning Projects
The Mount Tolman Fire Center conducts prescribed burning projects typically in the spring and in the fall, when weather conditions are favorable. There are different types of Prescribed Burns, each with it's own objectives and specifications. Each Burn Unit requires months of planning and a lengthy approval process before it can be burned. When a unit is burned, the weather conditions must be within the parameters written in the prescription. Also there must be a certain number of resources on scene (which is determined by the complexity of the burn) to control the burning operation.
