Zosel Dam is located at River Mile 79.0 on the Okanogan River. Travel time from the mouth of the Okanogan River to Zosel Dam is an estimated two to three days.

Data collection efforts on the population and distribution of the elusive Ogopogo are ongoing. However, no individuals from any size class have been enumerated in the current sampling season.

This project was initiated by the Okanogan Basin Monitoring & Evaluation Program (OBMEP) in 2005 as part of a basin-wide monitoring program.

The primary objective is to capture fish passage events at Zosel Dam 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year for estimating salmonid populations in the Okanogan River basin.

Detailed descriptions of, and results from, the Zosel Dam video counting system can be found within these documents:

The system was fully operational in February, 2006. The system includes two, custom-made fish-passage chutes, fluorescent lighting and a state-of-the-art, motion-detection and time-lapse Digital Video Recorder (DVR).
